Chinese investors discuss with Industry Minister

Kathmandu, Sept 11: The visiting Chinese investors held a discussion with Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Damodar Bhandari, on potential areas of investment in Nepal.

A dozen of Chinese investors met Minister Bhandari and learnt about the investment atmosphere in the country on Wednesday, according to Minister Bhandari’s personal secretary, Ananda Bhatta. They showed interest in industrial sectors and about the policies for making investments in it.

On the occasion, Minister Bhandari made it clear that there were no legal and policy hurdles for investment in Nepal’s agriculture, hydropower, tourism, education and IT sectors. “It is Nepal government’s responsibility to ensure security to investment in the country,” he assured.

Minister Bhandari further informed that efforts were underway to operate industry with Chinese investment at Panchkhal of Kavre. Government was committed to providing adequate land for it.

The delegation leader Yin Liubing said they were for investing in Nepal.

On the occasion, Secretary Krishna Bahadur Raut also informed the Chinese delegation not to worry about legal aspects. Registration of the company could be initiated freely via online system, he added.
