Kathmandu, Nov 26: Banaras Hindu University Prof Dr Dipak Malik has said that republic and democracy had flourished in Nepal.
At a workshop organized by the Martyrs’ Memorial Academy Central Committee here on Tuesday, Prof Dr Malik emphasized the need for changing our societal mindset for the continued success of political contexts and inclusive democracy.
In the workshop themed ‘Current political context and inclusive democracy’, Malik decoded that republic and inclusive democracy attained the success in Nepal since, he argued, all citizens enjoy equal rights in this governance system.
He underscored inclusivity was key for good governance system which, he asserted, would provide fair and equal participation of the citizens of all region, language, gender, community and class and creed in the state apparatus.
On the occasion, Nepali Congress leader Min Bishwakarma reflected on the significant contributions of democratic leaders such as late BP Koirala, late Girija Prasad Koirala and late Pradeep Giri in establishing inclusive democracy in the country.
Likewise, various prominent personalities such as former Vice-Chairperson of National Planning Commission Dr Jagadish Pokharel, former parliamentarian Kiran Yadav, former ambassador Dr Bijay Karna and Academy President Khilanath Dahal among others put forth their views in the event.
