Mithila Madhyamiki Parikrama pilgrimage concludes

Janakpur, March 3: The 15-day Mithila Madhyamiki Parikrama, considered the Mahakumbh of Mithila, concluded today in Janakpurdham with the observance of the ‘Panchakoshi internal circumambulation’ ritual.

Starting from Falgun Shukla Paksha Pratipada at Hanumangadhi in Janakpurdham and continuing until Falgun Purnima as per the lunar calendar, a large number of pilgrims have participated this time in the largest pilgrimage of the Mithila region.

It is customary for those who participate in the 14-day pilgrimage in the Mithila Madhyamiki Parikrama to also take part in the mandatory Panchakoshi circumambulation ritual.

Since morning, devotees had been participating in the inner shrine circumambulation, scattering the ashes of the fire lit for Holi along the path.

Pilgrims participating in the Mithila Madhyamiki Parikrama travel a distance of 133 kilometres barefoot, making night stops at various places, covering 107 kilometres in Nepal and 26 kilometres in India.
