The GCC welcomed the decision by the United States of America to lift the sanctions imposed on Syria under the Caesar Act, describing this step as a positive development that contributes to supporting efforts aimed at restoring stability and improving humanitarian and economic conditions in Syria.

Secretary-General of the GCC Jasem Mohammed AlBudaiwi said in a statement issued today that this decision would help create a more conducive environment for enhancing economic recovery, reopening and revitalizing the Syrian economic and investment space for regional and international cooperation, facilitating the delivery of basic services to the brotherly Syrian people, and contributing to Syria’s gradual reintegration into its regional and international surroundings, in a manner that serves the interests of the peoples of the region and strengthens its security and stability.

AlBudaiwi reaffirmed the GCC’s supportive position regarding Syria’s unity, sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, as well as its commitment to standing alongside the Syrian people in their aspirations for a future characterized by security, stability, and sustainable development.
