Election Commission Cancels Candidacy of Resham Chaudhary Amid Review of Complaints

Kathmandu. The Election Commission has stated that the candidacy of Resham Chaudhary, who filed his nomination papers for Kailali Constituency No. 1, has been canceled following an investigation into complaints filed against candidates for the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21.

Assistant Spokesperson for the Commission, Kul Bahadur GC, informed that complaints filed for one constituency in Sunsari District Constituency No. 2, one in Rautahat District Constituency No. 1, and two in Bhaktapur District Constituency No. 2 were found to be unsubstantiated. The Commission noted that the complaint regarding Rautahat was dismissed on Wednesday, confirming the candidacy.

The investigation into the complaints began on Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 PM. The investigation into the complaints continued until 5:00 PM today. The next step is the publication of the candidate list, which is scheduled to be published between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM today. The time allocated for candidates to withdraw their names is set for Friday, Magh 9, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

The final list of candidates will be published on Magh 9 between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM. On the same day, the program for providing election symbols to candidates is scheduled from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Information was provided that three programs have been set for Friday at the offices of 77 Chief Election Officers and 88 Election Officers.

According to the information received by the Commission from the offices of 77 Chief Election Officers and 88 Election Officers across the country, the candidacies of 3,088 males, 396 females, and one third-gender individual, totaling 3,486, have been confirmed. Complaints were filed against five candidates in four districts among these.
