Bagamati, May 7: Chief Minister of Bagmati Province, Indra Bahadur Baniya, has said the province government is continuously effortful to enhance the respect and recognisition of mother tongues, education on mother languages and their uses.
In his message of best wishes today on the occasion of the Language Day today in Bagamati Province , the Chief Minister said, ” It is the responsibility of all of us to protect, promote and develop all languages.
Today, or Baisakh 24 in the Nepali calendar, is observed as the Language Day in the province, marking the implementation of the ‘Province Government Official Languages Act 2080 BS’.
Bagamati Province has been celebrating the Day since 2081 BS. The implementation of the Act recognised Tamang and Nepal Bhasha ( Newar Language) as the official languages of the province.
On the occasion of the Language Day, the province government has announced a public holiday across the province today.
