Kathmandu, May 15: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Biraj Bhakta Shrestha, has said that the situation of electricity being wasted due to the lack of transmission lines should come to an end.
Minister Shrestha stated this today during an inspection of the central office of the National Transmission Grid Company Limited.
“The situation where the excess electricity produced goes to waste due to the lack of transmission lines must end; the government is with you, work effectively to achieve results,” Minister Shrestha said on the occasion.
He stated that the construction of transmission infrastructure is the government’s main priority for the overall energy development of the country.
On the occasion, Minister Shrestha instructed the company to move forward with a clear vision and achieve the targeted goals on time.
He clarified that there should be no shortage of budget or skilled personnel required for the company’s performance. He urged the employees to work with high morale and assured that the government would provide all necessary support.
On the occasion, Sagar Shrestha, Chief Executive Officer of the National Transmission and Grid Company, stated that the Company is working to develop Nepal’s hydropower sector and ensure energy security.
Ministry’s Energy Secretary Chiranjivi Chataut, Administration Branch Chief Rudra Singh Tamang, among other officials, accompanied the Minister during the inspection visit.
