Bhadrapur (Jhapa), July 22: The Birtamod Municipality in Jhapa district has issued a notice giving a 15-day ultimatum to the public land encroachers to demolish the structures built by encroaching upon public land along the roads.

In a notice by the municipality, the owners have been asked to demolish the illegally constructed infrastructure within 15 days from the Mahananda Chowk to Debaniya area in Birtamod.

As per the mapping from the Department of Roads, the total width of the road is fixed at 30 metres in total — an equal 15 metres left and right from the centre of the road.

Earlier on June 10, the municipality had issued a notice giving 35 days of ultimatum to house owners and business persons to shift from the encroached areas on their own.

The municipality has stated that the next move will be taken as per the law if the illegally constructed properties are not demolished within the given deadline.

Furthermore, the municipality has mentioned that it will recover the total cost incurred for demolishing the properties from the concerned house owners and the encroachers.
