Venezuela seized nearly 66 tonnes of drugs in 2025, up 64.44 percent from a year earlier to a record high, National Anti-Drug Superintendent Danny Ferrer told the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND), the Venezuelan government said Tuesday.

In a news release, Venezuela’s Ministry of Interior, Justice and Peace said Ferrer made the remarks during the 69th session of the CND being held in Vienna, Austria.

Ferrer stressed that the amount of drugs seized in 2025 marked the highest level recorded in the past two decades, adding that the result was achieved through policies implemented by the Venezuelan government and cooperation with at least 11 countries.

He highlighted the strengthening of Venezuela’s prevention and control capabilities to neutralize criminal organizations involved in drug trafficking.

On domestic anti-drug efforts, Ferrer said the country has made significant progress in reducing demand, with preventive programs reaching more than 2.5 million people.
