Kathmandu, April 18: Ministry of Health and Population has decided to grant two-day public holiday in public hospitals on Saturday and Sunday.

Spokesperson at the Minstry, Dr Prakash Budhathoki said that arrangement to give a two-day public holiday on Saturday and Sunday has also been implemented in hospitals as per the notice published in the National Gazette on last April 4.

Earlier, the ministry had directed the operation of outpatient services on Sunday as well.

“in-patient and emergency services will continue 24 hours as usual taking into consideration of the morale and interests of healthcare workers and continuous patient care, as well as the government’s policy of a two-day public holiday per week. The pre-scheduled surgeries and other services for patient convenience on Sundays will be ‘rescheduled to implement the arrangement”, it is shared.

Budhathoki requested hospitals to provide services on holidays as much as possible to ensure that patients do not face any hardship.

Likewise, the ministry has urged all hospitals to arrange for smooth referrals to nearby suitable hospitals for services not available at the hospital and to keep ambulances ready at all times.

For public information, the ministry has provided details of services available on holidays on its website for public information.
