Kathmandu, May 31: The meteorological forecasting division indicates a significant chance of rain, particularly in the Lumbini, Karnali, and Far West regions, due to the influence of a westerly low-pressure system.
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology reports that most Himalayan and hilly areas, including Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces, are experiencing cloudy conditions. Some areas in Lumbini province are receiving moderate rain, while light rain is reported in parts of Gandaki and Karnali provinces.
This afternoon, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy in the Himalayan and hilly regions, with partial cloudiness in the Terai. Moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely in certain areas of the Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.
Additionally, there is a risk of thunderstorms in some locations in the Terai region of Madhes province and parts of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces. Tonight, the Himalayan areas of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces are forecasted to remain generally cloudy, while the hilly areas and Terai region of Lumbini Province will be partly cloudy.
The rest of the Terai region is expected to be mainly clear, although light rain or snowfall may occur in some areas of the Himalayan and hilly regions of Sudurpashchim, Karnali, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, as well as in select locations in the Terai and Koshi and Bagmati provinces.
The Division has advised vigilance and staying updated on weather conditions due to the potential for storms in parts of the Terai region of Lumbini Province.
