Dhankuta, June 16: One died while the other sustained injuries when two motorbikes collided head-on at Chayne, Dhankuta Municipality-4, along the Dhankuta-Hile road section at 7:15 AM on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as 55-year-old Bishal Chaudhary of Jhumka, Ramdhuni Municipality-9 of Sunsari district, and currently living at Sabji of Dhankuta Municipality-7, according to the Spokesperson of the District Police Office, Dhankuta, Hemanta Bhandari Chhetri.
The injured have been identified as Shyam Tamang of Hile, Dhankuta Municipality-1.
According to the police, when the motorcycle (25 P 177) coming from the opposite direction tried to overtake at high speed, it collided with Chaudhary’s motorcycle (12 P 8098) en route from Dhankuta to Hile, causing the accident.
Chaudhary, who was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident, was declared dead by the doctor at around 9 AM during treatment at the District Hospital, Dhankuta.
Tamang, who was injured in the accident, was sent to Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences after general treatment, police said.
Police said that the dead body of Chaudhary has been kept at the District Hospital Dhankuta for post-mortem.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
