Nepal Telecom expands 4G services to remote Mugu and Bajura districts

Kathmandu, July 17: Nepal Telecom has expanded 4G services to remote mountain villages in Mugu and Bajura districts. Telecom has launched 4G services in Soru-6, Sorukot Rural Municipality of Mugu and in Neta Bichchhya, Ward No. 1 and Kuwadi, Ward No. 5 of Bajura.

At the event held on the occasion of the service inauguration in Sorukot, there was notable participation from local representatives, officials from government agencies, technical staff of Nepal Telecom, and local residents.

Addressing the programme, Soru Rural Municipality’s chairperson Dharma Bahadur Shahi and vice-chairperson Keshar Bahadur Shahi said that the expansion of modern telecommunications services in remote areas is a historic achievement for local residents and expressed their commitment that the rural municipality will provide necessary coordination and support for the sustainable operation, protection, and capacity expansion of the service as needed.

According to Nepal Telecom, the 4G tower installed in Bichchhya’s Neta provides service to Kot, Neta, Bama, Baudi, Yauna, and Natikhola, Gumba and up to the trail leading to Ranisaina from Bajura.

Similarly, 4G service has also been expanded to the villages around the confluence of Kuwadi River and the route to Humla’s Tanjakot Rural Municipality-2.

Nepal Telecom has stated that the locals of these areas can now avail of services as high-speed mobile internet, quality voice service and SMS services with the availability of 4G services.

This is expected to not only boost local economic and social development but also make it easier for citizens to access information, education, health, and government services, the Nepal Telecom stated.
