Jhapa, May 12: Manav Sewa Ashram has launched the ‘Mechi-Mahakali National Rescue Journey -2083 BS’ aimed at rescuing people living on the streets and reuniting them with society.
The campaign began on Monday from the Mechi Bridge in Kakarvitta, located along Nepal-India eastern border. It will conclude upon reaching Mahakali.
The journey was inaugurated by lighting lamps during a ceremony where singer Aani Choying Dolma, Manav Sewa Ashram founder Ramji Adhikari and Mechinagar Municipality deputy-mayor Meena Upreti briefly addressed the gathering.
According to the organisation’ founder, Manav Sewa Ashram has been helping homeless people reintegrate into the society after rescuing them from the streets.
” Humanity is the supreme religion of human life,” singer Dolma said, calling upon one and all to support the campaign, contributing to make it a success.
This is the third time that such a tour has been launched. A total of 26 volunteers have been mobilised for the tour.
The Manav Sewa Asharam has presently its 23 chapters in 19 districts across all seven provinces, where people in need and those forced to live on the streets are rescued and managed.
