Kathmandu, May 19: The government has decided to provide Rs. 15,000 a month as shelter cost for every family of the squatter households removed from risky river banks in the Kathmandu Valley.
The meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Tuesday made the decision to provide housing cost to the removed squatter family a sum of Rs. 15,000 if the number of members is 5 and Rs. 2,000 additional if the number is more.
The housing cost will be provided for three months, said Sasmit Pokhrel, government spokesperson and Minister for Education and Sports.
Similarly, the government has also decided to provide Rs. 25,000 in lump-sum for rehabilitation for each of the family after verifying the details of those squatters who were living in the public area of the river banks in the Kathmandu Valley.
