Pokhara, June 11: Direct flights are to be operated from the Pokhara International Airport to Dubai, a city in the United Arab Emirates.
Tourism entrepreneurs here are elated to know about the operation of regular flights from coming September 23.
The regular international flights have been assured after three years the airport came into operation.
Fly Dubai, a Dubai-based Airlines, has opened ticket booking for daily flights from September. Along with this, regular international business flights will be operated from Pokhara International Airport for the first time.
Pokhara is a city enriched with natural beauty, tourism adventure, and cultural heritage.
With expansion of international air access, new possibilities have opened up for promoting tourism in this region.
Earlier, only charter flights to the countries like China and Bhutan, as well as emergency medical flights to India, were operated via the airport.
Pokhara Metropolitan City Mayor Dhan Raj Acharya said the Dubai flight is an important achievement in expanding Pokhara’s international identity.
He claimed it is not merely an expansion of air service but also an opportunity to promote tourism, attract investment, and de-concentrate air traffic from Kathmandu.
Bharat Parajuli, a central member of the Hotel Association of Nepal, shared the discussions with the UAE Ambassador on tourism exchange and operation of direct Pokhara-Dubai flights were positive and fruitful.
“The flights to Dubai would significantly contribute to the expansion of tourism, trade, investment and people-to-people relations”, he added.
Passengers can book their air tickets through the official website of Fly Dubai and recognized travel agencies, it is shared.
