Kathmandu, July 23: The 48th Memorial Day of the founding general secretary of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN), Pushpalal, is being marked today by organizing different programmes.
CPN (UML), Nepali Communist Party and other communist forces in the country are scheduled to hold separate programmes today to recall the contributions of Puspala to Nepal’s communist movement.
Born to Bhaktalal and Tulasi Kumari in Ramechhap district in 1981 BS, Pushpalal initiated the activities of communist party by staying abroad during the Rana regime.
Pushpalal translated the Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels into the Nepali language and also made a thorough analysis of the class of the Nepali society.
Pushpalal established the Communist Party of Nepal from Calcutta of India in 1949 by uniting with Niranjan Govind Baidhya, Narayan Bilas Joshi, Nar Bahadur Karmacharya and Motidevi Shakya.
Pushpalal died in New Delhi of India while receiving treatment.
