Kathmandu, April 23: A group of conflict victims has demanded Prime Minister Balendra Shah that he took substantial initiatives to conclude transitional justice.

The group of 40 organizations working in the sector of conflict victims made an open call to PM Shah to restore credibility of transitional justice process. The government should fulfill its historical responsibility of ensuring victims’ right to truth, justice and reparation. The government of near two-thirds majority is expected to deliver justice, they said in the open call.

“We heartily congratulate you on behalf of all conflict victims on your assumption of Prime Ministerial post. We firmly believe that you have ability, will power and moral ground to give the right direction to transitional justice process,” the letter stated.

The letter however showed concern over omission of transitional justice process in the 100-point governance reform agenda advanced by the government.

Chairman of the Common Forum of Conflict Victims, Suman Adhikari, urged the government to take effective measures to conclude the long pending transitional justice.
