KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday congratulated Nepal’s newly appointed interim leader, Sushila Karki, and voiced his hope for stronger ties between the two countries.
In a post on X, the premier said: “My sincere felicitations to Right Honourable Mrs. Sushila Karki on her assumption of office as the Prime Minister of the Interim Government of Nepal. I look forward to working with her to further strengthen Pakistan-Nepal relations. I also wish the people of Nepal a peaceful and prosperous future.”
Karki, 73, a former chief justice and the first woman to hold that position in Nepal, was sworn in by President Ram Chandra Paudel after the previous prime minister resigned on Tuesday amid violent protests that saw parliament set ablaze.
