Kathmandu, May 19: President Ramchandra Paudel has administered the oath of office and secrecy to newly appointed Chief Justice (CJ) Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma.
He took the oath during a special ceremony held at the Office of the President on Tuesday.
The Constitutional Council’s meeting had put forth the name of Supreme Court Justice Dr. Manoj Sharma as the Chief Justice on May 7.
A meeting of the PHC held on Tuesday unanimously endorsed Dr. Sharma for the Chief Justice following a parliamentary hearing.
The decision has been made as per Rule 26 (5) of the Regulations for working procedures of the joint meeting of the federal parliament and the joint committee, 2080, to endorse Supreme Court Justice Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma for SC Chief Justice.
Immediately after his appointment, he took the oath of office and secrecy.
The oath-taking ceremony at the President’s Office was attended by Prime Minister Balendra Shah, Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR) Dol Prasad Aryal, National Assembly Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal, heads of diplomatic missions, and other distinguished officials.
