Kathmandu, July 4: As many as 127 Nepali citizens have lost their lives in natural disaster related incidents during the period April 14 to July 3 in the year 2026.
Spokesperson at the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), Shanti Mahat, informed that a total of 2,721 disaster-related incidents occurred during the reporting period, resulting in 127 casualties and 773 injuries.
In the disaster bulletin released by the NDRRMA on Friday, it is stated that the disaster incidents affected 3,722 families during the period.
The highest number of deaths (23) occurred in 398 incidents of snake bite followed by 21 deaths in 54 landslide incidents and 19 in 205 lightning strike related incidents.
According to the bulletin, 34 people sustained injuries in 54 landslide incidents while 98 were injured in 205 incidents of lightning strike.
The most frequent incidents were fire, with 830 cases resulting in 17 deaths and 100 injuries. Animal attacks accounted for 147 incidents, causing 14 deaths and 82 injuries.
There were 474 storm related incidents, causing 13 deaths and 67 injuries, according to the Authority. Floods, landslides, heavy rains, boat capsizes, forest fires, and avalanches also caused human casualties, it is reported.
According to spokesperson Mahat, total 31 disaster incidents occurred across 27 different districts, resulting in a death and 15 injuries during the past 24 hours on last Thursday and Friday.
